Hi guys! I’m new here! I’ve been raising ducks for the past 7 years and this year we added turkeys. Well our turkeys ends up with fowl pox and we separated all birds who seemed to have gotten it and vaccinated the ones who seemed okay. Now it’s been 15 days since the vaccination. The manufacturing company of the vaccine said not to eat the eggs for 21days. But I also use the eggs to make soaps. I threw away the first two weeks of eggs. Does anyone know if it is safe to use the rest of the eggs they will lay to make my soap products? I just want to be safe. My ducks won’t eat the hard boiled eggs I made originally for them just to feed back and have no waste. I just hate to toss eggs but I have been. Any information would be great!! Thank you in advanced!

Hey there, so sorry no one answered this sooner. Unfortunately there has been no research on egg withdrawal periods for most poultry medications, so I've heard vets say anywhere from 10 days to two months. I believe most of Australia tends to recommend 10 day withdrawal periods for most medications. When it comes to antibiotics, I personally eat the eggs anyways since I've only ever had one bird at a time on antibiotics, I figure the minute amount I ingest will have minimal effect. I don't feed them to anyone else though. In terms of vaccines, I've not been faced with that choice myself. I probably would at least withdraw for ten days. If you have a dog, I'd feed them to the dog or back to your flock (cooked).

Since two weeks have past since you've posted it, you're definitely safe to use the eggs now.

How do you incorporate eggs into soap?
