So my cockerel came down with a mild case of fowl pox a couple of weeks ago. He has some small black dots on his comb and that's it. I decided to let the disease run its course after doing some reading on the subject. We have had 110 degree weather here for the past week straight and I think it has weakened his immunity some because now he is making some strange sounds when breathing (kind of a honking sound). My other girls aren't showing symptoms but if this heat holds out I don't know how long they can fight it off. Any suggestions? They are getting electrolyte water every other day (I swap out fresh plain water every other day). Do you think I should issue antibiotics to ward off any further respiratory issues?
ETA: I looked inside his mouth and throat and could not see any signs of pox or obstructions but I am not an expert.
