looking for someone that has experience with Fowl Pox and secondary infections. I was told the secondary infection that my chicken has is E Coli and very common. I was injecting my chicken with antibiotics for 10 days but reading online that certain antibiotics do not touch E coli. My chicken seemed to be back on top however when opening door to coop this morning, she was hesitate to come out. She did finally start eating and drinking. Does anyone have any experience with putting iodine in water to stop contamination?I have spoken to many people, contacted several vets( hard to find someone who specializes in chickens) and now, reaching out to some of the commercial chicken farms to get some answers. I am in desperate need of help and I have already lost one bird and don't want to lose anymore.

Could you post some pictures of your chickens with fowl pox? Where is the secondary infection? What antibiotic were you injecting and the dosage/frequency? Most chickens recover from fowl pox, unless they develop swollen scabby eyes that prevent them from seeing food and water. Also if they develop the wet or diphtheritic form of fowl pox in which cheesy yellow plques are found inside the beak, throat, trachea, and esophagus.

Please post photos.
What antibiotic have you been using?
Where are you located in the world?

Did whoever said your chickens have E. Coli advise you on treatment?

What are the symptoms you are seeing?

Iodine in the water can sanitize it. For 1% Iodine the mix 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. For 2% Iodine mix 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water. Provide as the only source of drinking water for the flock.

Water stations need to be cleaned daily.

What recommendations have the vets made to you? Have you had testing or a necropsy performed?

Is it possible that Fowl Pox and E. Coli are not your problem? How old are the birds, how may do you have, how are they housed, what do you feed?
