Yesterday, I noticed Reba standing in the pouring down rain. Not moving and lethargic. My husband took her inside the coop and she hadn't moved in 2 hours. I went back out and brought her in the bathroom. She wouldn't eat, drink and hadn't pooped for hours. Her comb has some dark spots (crusty), but not as bad as some Fowl Pox that I've seen.

This morning, she laid an egg, ate and drank from a syringe. Problem is that she only turns her head towards the back of her tail and won't walk forward. Thoughts?? I took her outside a bit ago and same thing. Won't look forward, is closing one eye and is stepping on everything. Like she can't see??

I'm puzzled!

I'm sorry about your hen. It sounds like she has something neurological going on, and that could be from a disease, a vitamin deficiency, or an injury. Did she have a Mareks vaccine? I would give her vitamins and electrolytes in her water, and you may need to feed her with a syringe or dip her beak into water. Offer some scrambled egg to eat with chicken feed.

Wryneck maybe the problem if her neck is twisted most of the time. It can be symptom of vitamin deficiency, head injury, or from diseases such as Mareks, Newcastles, and severe respiratory diseases. Google "crook neck chicken" and there are some good links, especially the Brown Egg Blue Egg one.
