Hi BYCers! Quick question here: I have a flock of nearly 40 8-week-old pullets, and, due to the excess of mosquitoes in my area, it is time to vaccinate for the ever-present fowlpox. However, the last time I vaccinated the previous flock of chickens (these were probably around 10-14 weeks old), the vaccine caused them to get the disease--really bad. They were breaking out in pox everywhere. Is there any way I can avoid this happening again? I use Poxine, Live Virus. Thanks!

Maybe a different vaccine? I'm assuming the dosage was correct with your last batch? I've had similar issues with IB vaccines - very frustrating!

It IS very annoying!!! This time I ordered the same vaccine but from a different company, and they included the wing stabber, and it is much smaller than the one I used previously. Perhaps I did accidentally OD the other chickens.
I vaccinated Monday, so we will see how it goes this time

Let's hope they get over it soon
