Fox and egg

A duck layed an egg in my front yard this morning and hasn't came back yet. It is clearly in my front yard. Foxes dwell here and I don't know what to do. What should I?

This was a domestic duck? If it worries you, bring it in for the night, and think about it in the morning. Sometimes sleeping on it helps make your mind clearer for what to do.

The duck is wild. I have a large dog and one going on three cats and I don't know what to do. The duck had built a nest. I don't want the mother to not like it. What do you think is necessary?

One option is to try to build some kind of fence around the nest area, big enough so that the mother duck can fly in and out. Since this is a wild duck, perhaps your local wildlife agency can give you some good ideas.
