Rosawoodsii-where in Maine are you? I'm in Raymond. I just talked to a lady yesterday who lost her African gander to a fox. I don't take chances with my Sebbies! They go into the barn at dusk or a little before! Good idea to treat them to come in! I do that also.

I'm in Northport, just outside of Belfast. I do put the geese in every night, and let me tell you, sometimes it's a real chore!

Are you near Sebago Lake? That was so sad about the people who went through the ice. I'll never understand people who go out on the ice after a week-long (or better) thaw. This happens every year.

Well they were great Church people, very Holy, and besides he knew enough to stay out of the road! seriously we did have words on the subject and he was of the opinion that if he kept the fox well fed it would stay out of my poultry.

Yep, thats why I mentioned he was Holy, what they think is Right comes directly from God. BTW the first time I saw this fox it scared me! I was at the road puting up my mailbox and out of the corner of my eye I saw something slip into my garage. When I got there, here is a male fox marking my tires like a dog will! No Fear on his part, my thought was "Rabid", foxes don't act that way unless they are Mad. I got in the house by a different door and was searching for the shotgun shells when I saw him up on my deck drinking out of my little lily pond. Mad dogs don't drink so I grabbed the loaded BB pistol and gave him one to go on. When I started meeting my new neighbors I mentioned this event and they chuckled and told me about "Mr. Holy". My new address? FOX RUN RD!

There was a fox on a golf course near Grand Rapids, MI that was spotted several times by golfers taking Canadian geese. So yep, it is possible. I have had them take ducklings and ducks, but so far, not my geese, hopefully, they don't try to take them on.

Fox are smart, and they are opportunists. A single fox might have problems killing a mature goose, but a pair working together could successfully kill a mature goose. I once saw a pair of fox trying to kill a fawn. When the doe would chase one away, the mate would chase the fawn. That year I saw many does with only one surviving fawn. I'm thinking a strong possibility they were unable to protect twins with this pair of fox tag teaming them.
