Early this morning one of my hens got attacked and dragged off by a fox but when I surprised it, the fox dropped her and ran off. alot of her skin is off on her back. I seperated her, cleaned the wound, and put Neosporin on it. Is there anything else I can do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at that injury and knowing just how hard a fox can bite down when it grabs its pray I would have finished what the fox started.

From the pic it looks like some good puncher marks and right into the chest cavity along with some missing fleash. An infection in an open body cavity spreads fast and leads to alot of other problems and suffering quickly. Not only that but the force of the bite from the fox to do that kind of damage might have also caused internal injury that is not visable.

I believe most people would give her penicillin, so maybe try that?

At the feed store, they may have a herbal spray that is supposed to burn a little, but is supposed to work really well. Don't remember the name off hand. If you really need it, message me.

Also, alot of foxes carry or have rabies. I dont know if chickens can get infected by it or not. Maybe someone here might know more about it than I do.

Wound coat will work, but flys laying maggoties will do it in, Not all maggoties are good. Just saying, We had a girl that got chomped by a dog, lived, and had a gaping hole wound, it healed up and lived. But keep an eye on it. if it starts to stink, then put her down. I mean stink like rotted flesh. No use letting it suffer in that case.
Good luck.

She seems fine today I still have her seperated of course and the wound is on her BACK not chest (sorry I know the picture angle made it look like her chest), and she walks, eats, and drinks.
Thanks for the advice so far and I'll keep keep and eye on her for sure.
