Sounds like you did the absolute right thing.

Did your other hens turn up yet?

Unfortunately not, the one hen was the one I caught it with. We are thinking it may have been coyotes. We have heard them around our property a lot but never had any issues. It dropped her before it ran off. Surprisingly she walked up towards our house and around the back but by the time someone came to help me (I was home alone with my little one and couldn't go out), she was nowhere to be found. The other hen that is missing had some trouble walking especially in the cold so I imagine she was taken.

Sorry for your loss. One thing I learned about foxes is that there is never just one.

We're thinking it may have been coyotes, it looked bigger than a fox to me when I saw it out the window. We hear them here a lot but in my panic it's hard for me to remember details.

time to give your fox a bite back. this is #12 for me this year

Chickens have been kept in since and I was waiting for them to come back last night but never saw any. I've gotten complacent since we've never had an issues and now I'm on high alert
