Tending to my chickens
Today I was busy fixing some breakfast when my dad noticed there was something outside. I rushed over and saw it too. It was sort of a grayish brownish color and had a bushy tail. We know it wasn't a cat like a mountain lion or bobcat, because we've seen those many times. The animal noticed my flock of chickens and ducks, but never went after them. It was about the size of a large fox or small/medium wolf or coyote. It was traveling alone, not in a pack. we have an electric fence that protects them from any animals, as we learned when a bear attacked our flock last year. The fence hangs about 8" off the ground. First of all, is this behavoir normal for whatever animal it was, and is it able to get under the fence?

Hard to say without knowing what sort of animal it is. Nearly everything can get under a fence if it leaves an 8" gap at ground level.
