Fox got 2 chickens but still missing 3

So yesterday I let our 5 hens out and then we noticed a fox in the backyard. Unfortunately he got 2 of the girls. We shot at him so he ran away and hasn't come back yet. The other 3 girls are still missing.... How long might they hide before coming out? (If they are still alive) Its my first time having a predator come for them

Welcome to BYC - sorry for the circumstances. Generally spooked birds return to the coop in the evening or at the latest the next morning. Hopefully yours will return this evening.
