I have a horrible problem with foxes! It started out with one of my ducks getting taken. But now I have lost a rooster, 3 hens, and 5 ducks. I let my chickens and such free range. At first a fox came and took a duck one night, but its progressed to them coming every 2 or 3 days, even sometimes every day! When I say THEM I mean its more then one. A couple days ago we saw one of our ducks were gone and they left another duck dead with its neck broke because it was too heavy to carry. We ran in the woods after them and saw 2 foxes running away from us. Last month we killed 2 foxes thinking it took care of the problem, but it didn't. The weird thing about them taking my 2 ducks is that we were out all evening walking around watching for foxes. We put our chickens in their coop right before dark. One time we even went in the woods looking for signs of feathers. We recently bought a caller to draw the foxes in to get them, we're still trying that. We love our chickens and they are our pets, and we need to get these foxes. I guess that's why they say, "sly as a fox". Do you all have any tips to get them? Thank you!!

Live trapping is nearly impossible and doesn't do any good if you ultimately let the critter go. Foot traps are 50/50 because raccoons, possums, and the like will stumble in your set.

I suggest you, your spouse, and BFF grab your rifles and set up position where the fox normally enter the yard. You can download a rabbit distress call (or chicken distress call) at http://www.mp3raid.com/song/rabbit_distress_call.html.

If your problem is as thick as you portray, calling them in and shooting one will only educate the rest of the pack. Having a couple shooters will increase your take and lessen the chance a survivor will become an educated exile.

You are right about the traps, it doesn't do any good. We haven't even tried it but we've heard so many things about foxes hardly going in traps. I guess if you get one your lucky! I will download this onto my caller. Thanks for putting this download link up, it helps! Thank you!!

Electrified poultry netting can be very effective against foxes. It costs a bit.
It has been the answer for me. I had a couple daytime fox attacks, lost 16 birds. I've had the fence up over a year now, no more losses. Started with 300', liked it so much, I got 300' more. The birds get out everyday and I don't have to worry about them. As far as expense goes, you can surround a lot bigger area, for a lot less than it costs to build a wood framed hardware clothed run a fraction of the size.

So sorry, I just lost ALL six of my girls to a fox, or foxes. Devastated. Don't know when I'll have the strength to try again.
