I have a small flock of ducks and also some chickens. Recently I have noticed a few of my chickens being killed. I have seen a fox lurking around in the mornings, so I'm pretty sure that's the culprit. Any ideas on catching him with a live trap. I have a havahart 1081 I am planning on using. Any tips will help.

Hi and welcome to BYC!

I've been fortunate enough to not have predator issues, though many on this site have the experience and the advice you are looking for. Check out the predators and pests section, it's full of great tips and people are more than willing to help around here!

Welcome!

I'm glad you joined our BYC "flock".

I'm sorry to hear that some of you chickens have been being killed. I would definitely post in the Predators/Pests section: Predators and Pests

What will you do if you catch him in a trap? In many areas it is illegal to relocate a predator to another area. In others it is not legal to trap them either. Good to know beforehand.

Thank you all for welcoming me to the forums and giving me advice! I set the trap with a piece of chicken in an attempt to catch my chicken killer and I caught a raccoon after around a week of setting it. I put it out again and this time something actually tore wire off the back in order too escape! Hopefully that raccoon was the real killer and my chickens are safe now.
