Fox?

Electrified poultry net was the answer for me. Have not lost a bird to a ground predator in over 4yrs. Fox, and practically everything else, are still around, but the birds are safe.

Didn't even know there was such a thing. Is it expensive?

whats the best way to kill or catch the fox? I put live traps the cages and it didn't work, I even used live baits and sent killer still the fox didn't get into the trap, I thought he's gone and 3 days later it came back and took an other duck, a total of 3 ducks and about 7 chickens with in 2 months of fox attacks, I saw him so close to my house he got some balls that fox, in the time I grabbed the rifle and got out he was gone.

This is the first set that I learned. If you know which predator you are dealing with, the set is very effective for fox and coyote, as well as skunk, raccoon, and mink.

It is sad; I can totally relate to your situation.

I, too, thought I could only let my chickens free range while I was with them, working in the garden or enjoying the yard. But just before locking them up yesterday evening in their run enclosure, a fox got one WHILE I was out there with my hens and my cat (who acts like a dog). And then, in the middle of the night, the fox came back and took my remaining two hens after squeezing between the area where the enclosure gate meets the fencing above it.
Foxes are determined and clever. Our chickens sleep in a coop inside a run that is fenced above and on all sides, with buried fencing all around. The only weak spot is right above the door and the fox found it.

On 2 occasions I saw a fox grab an orpington about 20 feet in front of me. I got it to let go though.
