My hen has a foxtail in her eye. My husband said he can see it sticking out. I haven't been able to see that but I did notice her eye was shut one day, a little more open the next, fully open today but there is a bulge under her lid.

Any advice on how to remove it?

IF you feel comfortable doing this: Wrap her in a towel, place her on her back have one person hold her head steady and help open the lid so you can see it more, flush with eye wash solution/ contact lens solution and try to grab the foxtail with a pair of tweezers and a steady hand.........I might suggest using alittle eye ointment afterwards.......Hope that helps.....:)

Thanks for your help! I held her on her back, my mom held her beak and neck steady, my husband put mineral oil in her eye then pulled it out with the tweezers... It was HUGE... almost an inch long! We followed up with some eye solution and she seems to be fine. It is open, it looks normal, but sometimes she closes it. I'm sure it is a little irritated obviously. So far so good though... Thanks again!
