FPC Annual Winter Poultry Show - February 12, 2011

Well, now I know I have to come. I am picking up birds so as soon as I can get the chores done I will be driving up. Maybe I can make it by 10 am.

Sounds like fun, Matt! I will be there and bring my camera. Is everyone going to be there for a photo at 11 am?

Okay Matt A~~~same question I always ask----is this an ASBC meet?? the catalog doesn't list ASBC

thanks

Basically the club that hosts the show just can't afford the fairgrounds there and the insurance they have to buy for each show they host at the rowan fairgrounds. In order to stay in the black or at least break even they have to have a show with a great turn out each time. Moving to Morganton this spring lets them save about $1300 in fees. Where the future Unifour shows will be held is up to that club to vote on.

With the new laws that are going to start being enforced in April they may lose most of the out of state exhibitors. That show has a large percentage of out of staters.

The clubs have to find a way to break even or you can kiss the shows goodbye.

Hey Matt...
Could you please explain some of the new laws that will be starting in April... I read over it, wish I had got a copy.
Being from Va, I am concerned that I wont be able to meet the requirements. Our AI testing takes some time... we send in eggs...

The thing that is different for out of state exhibitors is that the AI testing must be done within 14 days of a show that they are attending in NC. This law destroyed the VA shows, swaps, and sales several years ago when they passed it.

They have worked in a loop hole. If your state declares you AI free along with your NPIP then you only have to maintain the AI status by your state rules. I think VA does testing every 6 months. I think SC and TN are on board with this and they were talking with GA the last I heard.

Without the loop hole there is a good chance that the Salisbury and Winston-Salem would not have survived. They have a large percentage of out of state folks and larger fees to cover. Morganton and the tiny show in Greensboro would most likely have kept going, but been smaller. The show in Smithfield I don't really know much about.

Yes, I emailed ASBC several weeks ago. I just now realized they posted it. I was waiting for an email from them. Guess they don't do that. I am learning. Please bare with me. If anyone knows of something I am supposed to do, please let me know. It is a learning process. So far, my good friend, Tina Cline, is helping me learn the ropes. I am over half way there, I hope.

Salisbury/Unifour is also a silkie meet as well as Morganton. If there are other shows that will be needed as Silkie meets, please let me know. I will be glad to ask that it be a meet.
