Hi. I’m originally from the piney woods of Louisiana, but now I live in Houston. I grew up in 4-H and FFA. I went to the feed store last year for duck food for the park and they had a bunch of Silkies. I picked the biggest and smallest and got a black rooster and a white hen. They roam around free in my back yard and nest inside at night. My daughter said they looked like fraggles, so that’s what we all refer to them as.

I came here because my rooster gets in my hens box and despite knowing he is absolutely a rooster, I still wonder if there is a chance I’m wrong. I get two eggs a day. One more oval and one more round. If I have managed to not figure out that I actually have two laying hens… all hope is lost.

Do you have two chickens total? If so, your boy is most certainly a girl! Chickens lay max 1 egg per day (very very rarely laying more than one egg/day).
