A bit back I posted a picture of Frankenrooster.

He's clumsy with the ladies and prefers to crow in the dark.

Today I moved a broody BuffOrpingturkey and eight four week old chicks to the main run. Then I opened the door to the coop. First out was a bossy SLW. Buff Orpingturkey fought her back, then Frankenrooster stepped in. He's keeping a five foot perimeter around BuffOrpingturkey and her Frankenchicks.

Finally! Frankenrooster was awfully close to freezer camp.

is Frankenrooster an EE?
I ask because it seems as if my EE hen (who looks a lot like he does but younger) may actually be a EE rooster. I'm still waiting for a crow to seal the deal.

Pretty rooster!

Here's Masala at 15 weeks

Masala's hackle and saddle feathers look pretty pointy - I'll bet you'll be hearing that crow.

well judging by his actions last night to Tikka I bet I will too. Hubba hubba (not that she was too thrilled)

I have a 20 week old EE roo who looks exactly like Masala. He hasn't crowed yet (he's on down in the pecking order) but he has his way with the ladies.

Frankenrooster is some sort of EE mix.
He's got yellow legs, and his whole neck looks like his wattles melted under his chin and stuck to the underside of his neck.
Never having seen a real life hatchery Ameraucana, I don't know if that's typical or not.

Well I think he's GORGEOUS!
Does he crow much? I'm really *really* good with mine not crowing. If he doesn't disturb the neighbors maybe I can keep him.

Frankenrooster's favorite hour is 4:00 AM. He'll crow for about an hour straight.

Which is why he sleeps in the motor home. With the dog.

Every evening husband shoves him in the dog crate and takes him waaaay back to the motor home.
