Yup. I’ve been successful with the leg thickness method, but since Phoebe/Frankie is a week older than her/his sister, it’s kinda hard to tell for sure. However, I’ve also noticed the boys tend to have slightly longer legs, too (and so far Phoebe/Frankie’s have remained relatively short). All physical signs are pointing towards pullet. It’s just that she acts so roostery at times :lau . Hopefully she’s just got more spunk in her.

Frankie update! I’ve been dealing with sick hens the past few weeks, so in order to take a break from the stress and anxiety, here’s the latest pictures of Frankie (who is now back to being Phoebe again). She’s 9 weeks old now, and I’m pretty sure she’s a pullet (I mean, the way things are going right now with my flock, I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out to be a late-blooming cockerel after all  ). She’s also a total snuggly love bug :love.

Yep Phoebe or Francis, should give you eggs in about 4 months
Now the fun part of waiting to see what color they’ll be begins! Since I didn’t purchase her myself, I don’t know who her parents were. If she’s really a Village mutt, her eggs could be brown or maybe green (if she’s got blue egg laying genes in there somewhere). BUT if she was a regretted feed store purchase she’ll most likely give me brown eggs... At first I thought she might be a Cuckoo Marans (because her legs were white when she was tiny), but now they’re a more yellow-green with the dark markings, so who knows what she is! :idunno Probably a good old reliable Barred Rock :D.
