I thought this could be fun! My hen bunty (GLW) hatched these guys herself (Besides one. See other threads)and now I'm curious who is a what! I've already got homes for two maybe three roosters if that is how the chips fall! And of course I have plenty of homes for any hens that I don't keep!
So lets get to guessing! I'll start!
Chick A: "Daphne" I'm 90% sure that She is a Hen. Her mom is a Delaware and my rooster is a RIR/Speckled Sussex mix. So unless the SS part of my rooster throws a wrench in the "red sex linked" gene theory then I'm pretty positive she is a hen.
Chick B: "Luna" I'm 50/50. Her mom is a grey and white EE! She has the longest tail feathers of everyone! They are growing crazy fast.
Chick C: "Pericles" This is my first one I'm thinking is a rooster...sadly, because his mix is going to be beautiful. His mom is a RIB...and one of my personal favorites. Reasons I think he might be a rooster is he already has a comb developing and a wattle?
Chick D: "Velma" I'm 50/50. Her mom is a gold and black looking EE. She was the first one born and i have a feeling she's going to be beautiful.
Chick E: "Petrie" (I know I went off theme lol) This is my second chick I think is a rooster. His mom is an OE. He's got an attitude already (runs up to the brooder to see me, sizes up his sister, and always has that neck extended looking around) PLUS he's got a yellow comb already. He and his sister are being raised in a brooder because mom rejected her. So I grabbed Petrie so I could raise them together.
Chick F: "Ducky" This is my baby girl. I have no idea on her gender but I'm really hoping she is a hen. Her mom is a OE (same mom as Petrie). My GLW who brooded all of the eggs got impatient because Ducky was two days behind in hatching so she abandoned the nest while Ducky was still pipping. Another of my hens started pecking at her so I brought her inside to hatch. Once she hatched, I let her dry and introduced her to my GLW where she promptly started pecking her. So she is inside now! I love this little chick and hope she is a hen so I can keep her!!
