Received baby chicks today from my pet chicken!!! All arrived healthy and energetic. Excitement didn’t last long- one of the babies was killed when a girl accidentally let go of the chick, who ran out of sight... the girl ended up accidentally smashing it (it died) :(. Girls are now very upset. We’re now afraid to even touch them now... Not sure what to do. Please advise!!!! :(

Not sure how old your kids are, but they should be sitting and the chicks should be held close to the ground to minimize any chance of damage if they get dropped. If your kids are pretty young the adults should be the one picking up the chicks and handing them to the kids. Also if possible only handle them in an enclosed area (like if you're brooding in a bedroom, shut the doors before going to the brooder). That way if one squirts free there's no reason to immediately get up and chase it, just go get it later.
