Freaking Out My Friends

Daughter has donated her hair to Locks of Love twice. Her hair grows like a weed.

The first time she donated her hair it was for a hospital room mate who unfortunately
passed away before the wig was done.

Last year, my daughter donated hair in her friends memory.

To those that do donate....Thank you.

To all you who donated....

Since my hair grows slow, and is thin and brittle, I would be a lousy donor...so send a few extra inches for me if you can

When my DH and I first got together my hair was to my waist. After a few years I decided to cut my hair. I was tired of it being long. My hair is curly and all I could do to control it was to braid it all the time. I wanted to donate it but he threw fits he wanted to keep it. So now he has a long braid of my hair. I think such a waste when someone else could have used it. I'm letting it grow again after keeping it short for awhile, so next time I decided to do it I will not let him know til after I have donated it.

Since I'm an old man, almost bald, I can't donate. I praise all of you who have donated your hair.

I think "Locks of Love" is a wonderful organization, & I get a tear when I see those kids with their "new hair", being so happy. Ladies, I think we need before & after pics of your new style! My DW had long wavy hair about 1 1/2 feet long, got it cut & donated, & is growing it again to donate. When she gets off work, I'll see if she can post pics, because I'm a computer idiot, & don't have that much talent.

Such a great organization! I've donated 26 inches so far, planning my next harvest in a couple months.

Gotta wait until this super thick hair of mine gets long enough so when I donate, I don't end up looking like a mushroom!

I have hair like wifezilla's, fine, thin and unwilling to grow long. I once went three years without a haircut, my hair only ended up about two inches below the top of my shoulders. It didn't even reach the "girls". Besides, not many people want salt and pepper colored wigs.

I think its great that y'all can do it. My neighbor has lovely hair; honey blond and wavy. She cuts it once an year for locks of love. It is so thick and nice I would bet they get several very nice wigs from it.

chicmom they take grey hair and sell it to cover the cost of making the wigs. My hair has some grey in it, but I figure if it helps some child get a wig all the better.

I think my first donation was 12" then 12" again then 11" and now 10". My hair growth has slowed down, but if I can keep doing it all the better.

Buff I just read the link and at the bottom of the requirements it says will only acccept hair that it knows can be used for it's intended purpose.
Only 5% grey in a pony tail donation is accepted.
It is also for women and Locks Of Love is for the kids.

Agreed. I would love for all my hair to be given in a wig to a child, but as long as my hair is used for the benefit of a child, whether it be a wig or sold to to pay to produce those wigs, I am good with it.
After all, a wig is not just a pile of hair plopped on a head. IT has to be made into a wig first.
