Freakishly GIGANTIC chick

It looks like a cornish cross to me. Last spring we bought 8 chicks of different breeds to put with out two broody hens. We ended up with two Cornish cross roosters. We did not know what meat birds were. Once I found out their life expectancy, I determined that we would do what we could to give them a good life. For as long as they could walk at a decent speed they could free range with the others. I wanted to keep them active. But it became harder and harder for them to walk. Eventually one died, I assume of heart failure. The other one's leg broke. I couldn't bear to see him die too, so I found an Amish family that would take him to use for food. I wish you the best with your chick!

Looks like the Cornish X I ordered this year. They are now 3wks old and 1.5lbs. The other chicks I ordered are 4.5 - 7 oz at the same age. I have mine separated from the others because it hogs all of the food.
