I have two young cockerels that need a new home!
One is a Barred Rock from Eagles Nest Hatchery, the other is a Polish from my own incubator.
I'm running out of room, and I won't be able to give these boys their own space, and I'm afraid they will get beaten up by my adult Polish and adult Bantam Brahma roosters. They are still fairly young, and are socialized well, with people, other chickens and even ducks.
Barred Rock cockerel- He was supposed to be a sexed pullet from the hatchery when he arrived with his 3 'sisters', but he soon showed us his true colors! He hasn't shown any aggressive tendencies, and seems lively and curious- he's usually the first to fly onto any object he encounters.
I don't know anything about his parents, but I'm sorry to say, he can't stay here... I have mostly bantams, and I'm afraid he would hurt my bantams when he mates or fights for dominance with my smaller hens and roosters. He is currently nameless, so feel free to give him one!
WCB Polish cockerel- This Polish cockerel was hatched from my own Polish rooster and hen, so I know about his parentage. His dad isn't human aggressive, and he is gentle when mating with his girls- personality traits that I hope were passed along! This Polish, I would love to keep, but his dad is a victim of the pecking order- he has a bald and plucked crest, and I feel the same fate may befall his son. His name is Tyrone- my sister named him...
The pictures I included are pics of the Barred Rock cockerel, the Polish cockerel, and a picture of the mature Polish rooster, so you can see what his son may look like.
