FREE chicken coop plan (nice one too) on the Purina Mills Website

Update! We've gotten so much work done on the coop! Here's a picture:

Nice looking coop!! We are using the same design, but I think ours is a little taller.
I see you also have the nest box high. From what other have mentioned, its better to have the roost high and the next boxes lower, or they will use the nest box to roost. I will either lower the nest box or raise the roost up to the top of the coop. Either way the roost will be higher than the nest box.

I would have missed it too! If not for this forum I would be lost. I did a ton of reading before we pulled the trigger to get the chicks and thought I had a good plan in place. After reading all the post related to coop design it was clear that the Purina plans were a little hokey. It is an easy build, but I had to make a bunch of modifications and double check all their measurements and found some to be off by as much as 4". Measure twice, cut once!

You can see my nest boxes will be high, so I plan to move that board down about 6 inches. Remember to leave room for bedding! I cut the door today and almost screwed it up by not allowing for the bedding! Lucky I caught it!

I am almost finished with my coop today! Inside is all done, with a few finishing touches to do on the outside. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out considering all the modifications I did and this being my 1st construction solo. I goofed on the sides. I made them doors and didn't realize until too late that the wouldn't open all the way do to hitting the rafters from the roof.

I will post some pics when I figure out how to do it. Getting ready to go out of town so it might have to wait till next week.

Everyone's new coops are so great! I'm so excited to see them.

I will post pics of mine in the next few days too! I can hardly wait for it to be finished. We are getting our girls on Sunday and my DH has been working hard on it. So far I love it and I think the girls will too. Like everyone else, it seems, we used the Purina plans as a guideline but modified them quite a bit.

Congrats again to everyone on your coops!

Ok, now I'm done structurally.

Had to modify the vents since my 8 yr old broke one off this morning trying to open a side door. Better now anyhow, no boards to prop it open:)
