FREE chicken coop plan (nice one too) on the Purina Mills Website

You are welcome. I also updated my page to add some more detail on the build. I like the coop and with the run I think it has plenty of space for my six girls. Let me know if you have any questions about the build and I will help.

Thanks to all the contributors for their pictures and advice. I built this coop, but I downsized it to 3' x 3' because we only have one hen (for now) and limited room. Take a look at my page to see the coop. I found the plans very easy to expand (or contract).

sune42 my husband and I built a very similar coop to this one. It is easy to cut holes in all the sides to put vents in. I found vents for A/C at the local restore that worked really well and were probably much less expensive than windows.

I built a similar design coop. Let me add a few thoughts.

First of all, it's great to have one whole wall open up for access and cleaning. Love that. However, it's a good idea to put that door on the side or the front, rather than the back where the lower end of the roof slopes down. On rainy days, you really don't want to have to stand in the runoff to reach inside the coop. I put my access door on the front of the coop, under a wide eave that shelters me from the rain while I see to my chicken chores.

Yes, I used this design but expanded it to 4x8 since I have 10 chickens. Here are the pics:

I'm going to build one just like nevadaron's I'm going to make each 4x4 end removable for cleaning with two opening doors on the back for easy access and the nest box on the front to keep it out of the elements
