Free chicken processing event, Western Washington

That is so cool. Great idea! I'd like to do something like that in this part of the country if I ever get a plucker. We hand pluck all of ours and our scalder is a gas fish cooker and a candy thermometer.

Picking up the equipment today. Still have room for a few more. Killing, scalding, and plucking will happen outside. The balance will happen inside a heated shop, and the snow will be gone by then!

Ended up processing 70 chickens and two turkeys. My hands were a bit full guiding and killing, and etc., so no pictures. 7 folks in total with birds from 4 different flocks. It went pretty well, and eth shrink bags were awesome. The featherman plucker didn't work so well on the 50+ pound tom.
