I got 2 Silver and 2 Golden Sebrights straight run about 7 weeks ago, and 1 of the Goldens is definitely a rooster. Tragically, I'm not allowed to keep roos in my hometown, and I'm pretty heartbroken as the rooster is the most friendly, cuddly, and outgoing of the 4 chicks! I think I still have a bit of time before he starts to crow, but I wanted to start looking for a loving home for him now. Let me know if you're looking for a delightful little bantam!

It's not out of the question, but I'd prefer something local, he's really a cuddly little pet and separating him from his flock is going to be hard enough on both of us without the added trauma of being shipped. He's still only 7 or 8 weeks old, but if he gets old enough that he is crowing and bothering the neighbors and I still haven't found a good local home, I'll definitely get in touch!

Can you ship him to me?

My daughter lives in Livermore and could transport him to me - I live about 5 hours South of you.

He would have a great home and lots of pretty girls ....

Are you positive that little one is a roo? I've had more then one little Sebright fool me into thinking she was a he! I would hate for you to rehome if it's a hen.

I'm 90% positive he is a roo, to my disappointment! The crest is a different color, crest and spurs are larger, and he's much bigger than the other 3 Sebrights I got at the exact same time. He likes roosting on top of the water jar and is a bit more outgoing (and keeps an eye out for predators even though he's only 2 months old...although so far he's only raised his hackles at some sparrows that were getting into his food). Having a 1:3 ratio of roos to hens for straight run chicks is actually pretty good, though!

I wouldn't mind holding off a bit before ACTUALLY rehoming him, but I'd rather have a waiting list of potential homes when he does start crowing than have to find someone on Craigslist at the last minute when the police come knocking on my door (as roosters are illegal in Davis).
