Someone should be held accountable for her condition! SHe is SO emaciated kidney and liver and heart damage is most likely already involved. Please find someone to put her down, or turn in the owners. GOodluck Wish She were in better shape. I don't dare try to trailer her that thin.

they need to be turned in,neglect or stupidity isnt an excuse..very sad,but she may be too far gone to help..and with her age there may be more going on inside..to florida chick..beautiful mare..

Thank you Lorienm I just wanted to show that the age of 28 was NO excuse for emaciation! ALL of our horses are rescues.

We did it! She has now been signed over to a rescue! They are picking her up tomorrow. (and yes, it is a very well certified one)
The inspector came out and checked her over and since she has only been malnourished for a short time, she is pretty sure she won't have kidney or other problems from it. She still has a lot of muscle mass, and the inspector says she should come back well.
They have been looking at the people that allowed her to get in this condition for a while and are collecting evidence, but have to get it very well documented because they always seem to have "proof" that the horse in question arrived at their place in this condition and they are nursing it back to health. And there have been others that they have rescued and brought back to health, so it's hard to get the documentation, but they will! The same people have several horses that are in their 30's that look great. This one was passed over becasue the "foreman" didn't think she was worth the time and effort and stuck her on the back 40. (this person no longer works there)But the owner, even though he might not be hands on the daily routines should still be held accountable for the actions (or in this case NON action) of the people he pays to care for his animals.
I had a pony that was 36 when he passed away in his sleep and although he lost most of his teeth the last couple years, he was as roly poly when he died as when he was younger. All it takes is a bit more effort and understanding to see them through.

Good job! Thanks for your efforts. It sounds like the poor girl is on her way back to health.

Good job with the rescue!

I hope you turn you pics, from six months ago, over to the authorities working on the case. Then they wouldn't be able to say she was a rescue that came to them in that condition!
