I have what I hope is an interesting proposition to someone that lives near me -- Ruckersville, VA. Last spring I ordered 12 Isbar hatching eggs (total impulse, off Ebay, I entertained the idea of making "Icecream Bars" with legbars x isbars -- don't ask). Only one survived past chick hood and of course it's a rooster. He's a gorgeous blue with some tan markings, non-aggressive (not friendly, but certainly respectful and shy) and I would love to keep him to raise some olive egger and easter egger chicks from my girls (I have lavender Americaunas, easter eggers and cream legbars as well as FB marans) but he crows ALL DAY. My FBC marans roo crows only in the AM (like, 2 times) and then only when there is danger or something weird he wants me to know about. This guy and my lavender Americauna roo (also free to good home) crow back and forth, all day. My husband can't stand it -- he HATES crowing. I am willing to give the Isbar or Americauna rooster(s) away with a selection of blue and brown layer pullets (3-4 pullets, ranging from 2 - 5 months old) FREE if I can get a few dozen hatching eggs next spring -- I'll pay for them of course. The roos are 2 months old. The pullets are from Cackle and McMurray, some shipped at the end of April and some at the end of July. I'd like it to be someone within 1-2 hours drive for me so I can get the eggs as fresh as possible. Any takers? I need to get some pics - can't find any at the moment.

Once you rehome the 2 noisey boys, the flock dynamics will change, and that quieter one will feel free to take over the position of the others. And that may include becoming a full time full throated crow-er.

No, he's always been quiet. I got him last year and from the start he only crows in the morning or if he sees something wrong, like a stray cat in the yard or a new car in the driveway. He's my "watch rooster" :) I love him. I wish all roos were like him.
