Free range alternatives to broiler pens, tractors, and coops

I've posted my comments about the electronet under that thread:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/687233/electric-poultry-fencing-brands-and-opinions#post_9309909

I've got my meaties going thru a series of facility "upgrades" as they get bigger:
- Indoor brooder - heated
- Coop - heat at night
- Coop with access to enclosed run
- Coop with access pasture protected by electronet.

It's very satisfying to see those little guys out on the grass flapping wings, scratching for bugs, doing the pecking order thing. The last batch did not have the same level of freedom (though still miles ahead of the industrial birds).

My plans for next year is similar to yours Buster52 - probably smaller scale than you. After practicing with these meaties and my cockerels on electronet pasture / portable shelter, I think I'll go with a basic hoophouse without floor. The birds still make a mess around the shelter - especial the entrance. I want to spread the mess around - maybe every second week.

Here is what I use.

This is a modified Salatin type tractor. Works great. I move it without a dolly just by pulling it with the rope shown laying on the ground in front of the tractor. However, this type of tractor isn't the best type tp use in the heat and drought environment we've had in Nebraska this summer.

This hoop coop seems much better suited to the hot, dry weather.

Here is a shot from the front.

You can see above the areas on the sides and in the rear where air can flow through. and of course the front is totally uncovered.
what are the 5-gallon buckets for - a gravity waterer?
