Free range and hawks, still unsue on the best preventative if any

I imagine if snow/ice collected on the line the 50# line could hold the weight. Sun would over time cause more deterioration IMO.

Even though I have five acres in the country, my chickens are never let out of their fully enclosed run. The skies out here are full of hawks, eagles, falcons, owls, and pretty much every bird of prey there is. I'm sure I'd lose the entire flock in very short order if they weren't in an enclosed run.
