Free range boundaries?

Greetings!

Our 7 week olds have been free ranging for a few weeks very happily. Suddenly today they got adventurous and crossed into our neighbor's yard...

So I'm wondering if there is something that might deter them other than a fence..although good fences make good neighbors...I was thinking along the lines of a scarecrow or other scary thing.

Any of you chicken experts have any thoughts??

They will get used to anything you can find to scare them, within a week or so they'll be ignoring it.

Fence will be a must.

Mine crossed over in the neighbors yard and got ate by their cat so I would definitely get a fence.
