At what age do ducks/chickens become cat proof?
I have 4 x 9 week old RIR, Marans, Bantam Cochin...and a duck.
They are all being couped up when I am not outside as the community moggy keeps paying me a visit.
I think the duck can handle herself...but the cochin is 1/2 the size of the RIR etc...

Any ideas?

It depends mostly on the cat. If the birds are old enough to be outside, they are safe from MOST cats.
If it's a FERAL cat that has to hunt for food, even a grown bird might be in danger.
My 2 fat lazy cats have never harmed any of my birds

I let my flock out into the yard for the first time yesterday. They are about 12 weeks old. Two of my cats took an immediate interest. But when the cockerel (who is a few weeks older) grabbed one of the pullets and made her squawk and flap her wings the cat ran away a few yards. I don't think the cats are going to actually launch an attack, but I'm only letting them out under supervision for now.
