free range chicken coop

I have 5 free ranging hens and one rooster. The hens were laying in the tractor shed until my son took all of the eggs out. When I took the eggs, I always left one or two. Now I cannot find out where they are laying. Does anyone have an idea on an outside laying box, or something else? This is the first time in years the hens did not lay where I wanted them to.

A covered cat litter box might work, with bedding inside.

Maybe leave some fake eggs...golf balls, in the spot where they like to lay or they were laying. Then maybe they will see it as a safe spot to lay. Otherwise, search the yard and find out where they are leaving your breakfast!
