Free range "enclosure"

Hi all,

We're thinking to free range the ladies, but we're worried about exposing them to birds of prey. Would it be a good idea to use fruit tree netting over the top? My take is that hawks wouldn't land on the net and star tearing it open. Our 1.4m tall timber fence is quite secure, but are there things to look out for?

If you have birds of prey in the area then netting is a good idea. Hawks can really ruin your day.

It's really strong. I have no idea if a Hawk has tried to breach it, but we do have hawks and eagles.

Definitely use netting.

We use the aviary net, tried both 1" and 2". I think 2" is sufficient. It's cheap and quite strong. Covers a large area, too.
