I have chickens and guineas free range on 8 acres with a number of mature trees. My neighbor has 10 acres of heavy wooded land next to my free range. The chickens and guineas are trained to come home to the coop at night. I am think about getting some peafowl eggs and hatching them next spring.

1. Can the peafowl be trained to come home to the coop at night???

2. What are the changes that they will "go wild" in the neighbor's wooded land and I will never see them again ????? . . .

I read somewhere, someone wrote that if you raise them with the chickens that they'll learn or at least they could learn to come in to roost. (ours lately mostly stay in all day, then they go out to roost at night, they got it backwards...)

as for them going wild... i hope not, i'm in the same situation and plan to free range them in the spring when they're a year old. I think (HOPE) they'll stay where the food is tho.

raised mine here from hatch and turned them loose at the age of 4 months, they do wonder but i have alot of land , however they tend to follow critter in the wild and can get off your place real fast if you are not around to turn them back.

I was never able to keep mine going into the coop at night but then i do not have coops for anything else here so they can sleep in the trees my dogs take care of things here.I sleep good at night
