My designs for the coop are finished but now I am planning the run. I really would like to let the RIR's I have (26 birds) roam a larger area in the back yard with a fence instead of blocking them in a small same area day in and day out.
If I free range the chickens how high does the fence need to be and what have any of you learned the hard way about free ranging them ?
I was planning on building a 16 ft x 24 ft coop with (2) 12 x 10 coops inside with and inside access to the egg boxes and small storage area.
Then make the run 24 ft x 24 ft and split it in half with a fence in the middle to seperate the to runs for each coop section.
Does this sound like enough space for about 30 birds maybe 15 birds in each side ???
