Free range stones the same as grit?

Where my girls free range has a lot of little stones and rocks, so I was wondering if I still need to give them grit? I have never given them grit before, but maybe i am wrong? Do they need special stuff from the store, or will they pick up the rocks they need in the yard as they forage?

In that case, no need to add grit. I have a gravel driveway and walkway, plus I live on a mountain property. I never buy grit.

Some rocks break up faster than others so it may not be the same as granite grit but for most it works out fine.

No I don't think you need to buy them grit when they free range, they always seem to find what they need.

I have never bought grit for mine.

This winter when it was uber snow covered here I bought some grit to offer since I wasn't sure how much grit they were able to access but they ignored it. If your babies free range you will be golden.
