Free range

I got two 21 week old amber stars today, when can I let them out to be free range?! How many days should they stay in their coop before I let them out, thanks x

I’d go with at least a week. They need to imprint on that coop as a safe place to spend the night.

I built a simple chicken wire pen around their coop for the first couple of nights so there wouldn't be a big chicken roundup the first couple of nights. Sure enough, they tried sleeping under their coop and I had to put them in. By the third night they went in by themselves...

My chicks are still babies, but with my goats and ducks, I left them in the run for about a week then they would free range as long as they wanted and go back in the run/ barn when they were ready. Hope that helps any!

I was going to say that I read to pen them up for 3 days. Glad your chicks learned quickly for you!
