Well, after keeping them segregated where the flock could see them.i opted to let the out. The hen would fly out and call for the littles.i watched her attack an orpington rooster that did not move out of her way fast enough another who just walked near her children.i have never seen a happier hen, she has been dust bathing non stop in between catching and eating things..she is a spangled oegb bantam hen and she is a tough nut.. i know the risks, but better to integrate into the flock, rooster is watching out for them too..( alpha bantam rooster alpha period bantam because he is)

I got really lucky.she was the gentlest, quiet girl..not the lowest, not alpha just friendly, independent, she got broody was gathering eggs. I took all but 7, staggered hatch, so took the last 2 to an incubator, my first time, one developed a crack and didnt make it, one hatched 3 days later took it put it under and never looked back 5 bantams and an egger bantam cross in her little brood. She is still humanaggressi
