Free Ranging Problems

If I let them out in the middle of the day, they stay pretty close. It seems like in the evening they like to go farther. I don't know why they like to go to the border beacause it's just nothing but grass, there isn't anything special around the border.

I'm guessing the problem is that you don't want the chickens in the neighbor's yard. I think the only way to stop that is a fence (or a herding dog lol), unfortunately. If the problem is getting them back for night time, they will surely come back to the coop on their own.

There is probably some food source in the neighbor's yard and when they finish it, they will probably not go back; for awhile at least.

cmom, what kind of fencing is that? I love it! Mine are free ranging right now, but it's always good to have fencing options. Thanks!

i have 2 hens and 2 roosters who i let out about 8:00 am
and they go to bed between 7-9pm depending on the lighting after all they do say the early bird gets the worm lol!
