Free Roosters

why are you hatching eggs if you cant have roosters

I have 6 roosters that need a home ...would rather not have to butcher them.

Sounds fine and responsible to me--OP wanted to hatch eggs, has a plan for the roosters (give away) and a backup plan (butcher). This is the give-away thread, not a "what to do" thread.

You may check into whether you have any feed stores that will buy roosters in your area. We have two of them in town (25 miles away, but worth it to get rid of extra roosters!) and use them to rid ourselves of those excess roosters. They pay $5 for mutts and $7 for purebreds. They sell them to farmers wanting a rooster or just to folks for the table.

I will definitely check out this option, I do have a few feed stores near me, thank you!

I have 6 roosters that need a home as I cannot have roosters where I live. I hatched the eggs myself and was blessed with 6 roosters out of 11 eggs. 1 is a Welsummer, 4 are Black Copper Marans and the other appears to be a Cuckoo Maran. The Welsummer and 1 BCM are 13 weeks and the others are 10 weeks. I live in Southeastern Wisconsin just north of Milwaukee and would rather not have to butcher them. Thank You.
Thanks for sharing your extras with us! I can't help rehome them, but I appreciate it all the same.

I think anybody who enjoys hatching eggs is going to run into a problem with too many roosters at some point. I know I do.

This needs to be a safe place
I think that is a very good point, and it is a very important one for the section.

If people are not here in search of a bird to take in, maybe it's best they just avoid this section. If there is a risk they are concerned about, ie:birds health, means of being kept, ect, then the post should be reported for the moderators to handle. This is not an educational, nor is this a criticism section.

Personally, I'm grateful for this section, and being allowed to use the forum for it. I've got some of my favorite birds from here, ones I couldn't really afford to buy.

I’m checking here to see if I get lucky with a regular size rooster. I only have a bantam Dutch rooster that I keep getting more little guys from.
