Tell us how you like them compared to the CX. Those are on my wish list.

I did a batch of CX a few months ago, and am now raising ginger broilers from murray mcmurray. They are really ticking me off. Every time i turn around they're scared of me again and the roosters are trying to peck me at 4 wks. Really missing the docile personalities of the CX, even if they are lazy and require a bit more management.

The CX or Frankenstein chickens as I call them are great for what they are. We just ate one yesterday and it was delicious.
They grow FAST !
For me, that’s a double edged sword. I butchered at 7 weeks and they were having problems moving already. They laid in front of the feeder.

I eat a lot of pheasant, so a more
“natural “ chicken is more to my liking.
I am one and done with the CX . IDK if
FRs are the answer “for me “ or a heritage breed . But i’ll Keep trying until I find my ideal meat bird.

The New Hampshires and the White Rangers from Freedom Ranger hatchery are the next meat birds I want to try.

I butchered CX from 5-9 weeks, and that last week or so were tough - had 2 heart attack losses around 8 weeks. I had one 9 wk old CX fall over on her back while trying to drink from the nipple waterer, and couldn't get up (I flipped her back over so she survived). Definitely wouldn't do more than 9 wks, and prefer to process at 8 weeks if I could.

Based on reviews, the Ginger Broilers were supposed to be pretty docile yet still active, a slower growing broiler. More active than CX, yes, but docile? Not so far. We'll see how they do once they make it outside.
