Saw a mini chest type one in Wal-mart just the other day. I have one that I bought at Sears (the one before it was from Wal-mart and it only lasted a couple years). I wish I had a larger freezer but no space for anything bigger.

It may have been because of the sale they had going in December on the freezers.
I bought a 14.8 cubic foot and an 8 cubic foot chest and they had both in stock.
They were doing a promo in December for the freezers but also on free delivery if you spent more than a certain amount.
Home Depot, Lowes and all the appliance stores that I shopped at in my area all had them in stock. I did my homework and price shopped but in the end went with what the Consumers Reports recommended, which is pretty much exactly what I had been looking at anyway in terms of size, price and features.

Careful. My Wal-Mart carries 2 smallish chest freezers. The smaller of the 2 is NOT rated Energy Star.
I always heard that the energy consumption of your fridge & freezer will basically determine your electric bill.
I have a freebe freezer that's ancient, so probably costing us a bundle of electricity, but it was free. I wouldn't go out and BUY anything that wasn't energy efficient.
