Freezing maggots

Im sure a lot of you have heard about the "put meat in a hanging bucket with holes to attract flies which lay their eggs that turn into maggots and fall to the ground for chickens to eat" method.

my question is: has anyone froze excess maggots to feed during the winter? I tried researching it and only one website came up that said you can freeze the maggots but I wanted to see if anyone has tried this

You can freeze them.. but when they defrost they will be watery mush....

You maybe better off setting up a meal worm farm... they are clean, don't smell like rotten meat.. and they are very prolific.

If you freeze in feeding-sized portions you could just mix the maggot mush into wet feed...is a thing I would have never imagined that I would be typing...
