I took in two batches of orpington eggs last evening because the temperatures were going to be 18 degrees and my orpingtons are not sitting on the eggs yet should I return them to the nest or just use them?

If they aren't broody, they aren't going to set them.
Collect eggs daily until one goes broody. If you want her to set, move her to a broody nest and graft her to it with FAKE eggs. Once she is grafted, give her fertile eggs all at the same time to hatch.
