Hi there!

Anyone else have a problem with their waterers draining out completely come wintertime? They are on even ground and filled with warm water in the morning. Within hours our 5 gallon and 7 gallon waterers are bone dry!

Whenever my waterers do that, either A) the lid isn't on properly, or B) they have a small crack in the base.

How many birds do you have? We have pretty 'dry' winters, and lately my girls have been drinking like it's summer.

We have 21 chickens and 20 ducks. This didn’t start happening until our nights were in the low 20’s. Lids are on tight and no apparent cracks. We are left scratching our heads! ‍♀️

Welcome! Do you have the galvanized metal waterers that depend on a vacuum to work?
If yes, any loss of the seal will drain them. My 5 gallon waterer had a small break at the handle, and some silicone sealant repaired it for a while. Check everywhere for any tiny failures, I think that's likely the problem.

For my ducks I have a heated 5 gallon horse bucket and for the chickens I have a heated waterer as well. I just have to run an ext cord. Works very well for me.
