French frogs

LOL - she was a little pill, to be sure, though the incident where I came off was one of those situations that was a spook related vs. her usual bratty behavior.  Funny thing is for all her brattiness I think that was the only time either of us actually came off of her.  We bought her as a project, she had learned to intimidate riders to get out of working,  so that was to be expected - by the time we sold her on DD and I had worked her through most of it (she was still buddy sour).  DD is (well, was before her non-horse related TBI last year) blessed with the fearlessness of youth where things like possibly coming off a horse are no big deal.

That's so true! We were fearless riders. Me and my bff used to take boys ...this is awful...that we didn't like on "thrill rides". Which was going out by moonlight...bareback...& hauling *ss with them hanging in for dear life . With us laughing all the way! My mare was smooth as silk at full speed bareback! I can still remember that feeling! Now that's a thrill! The boys we liked got nice rides

My best mare was green broke and bucked me off every single time I got back in her...over and over and over! I got. Plastic hollow ball bat and cut the end out of it. The next time she tried I swung it across the side of her neck which didn't hurt her at all, it was a super thin plastic! She jumped 5 feet sideways....and after that she became the best riding horse I ever owned. I was 12 this was in the 70s. Only in the 70s & 80s.! I wouldn't trade those years for nothing!! I feel truly blessed to have grown up in the era that I did! We worked so hard, we had cattle, and played even harder! Those were without a doubt some of the happiest days of my life..
