Stunning!
Stunning!
Thanks BR. He's the best I've ever had.
How was your Thanksgiving?
I love it

I'm guessing that's why Ravyn prefers the darker blues. The lighter ones do look a bit washed out, so when I get some more girls, I will be keeping the darkest blues for myself. I also wonder if the black cockerel will breed a darker blue. I'm going to try as hard as I can to keep them in the same pen, but that's never worked for me before
hmmm interesting, will have to ask her now that you said that. how large is the run you have for them?
I love blacks, since I have had white faced black spanish I have grown fond of a black chicken. the coloring is fantastic of a black bird, you cant get that in any other.
First 3 are Louie, last one is Ted. Louie has a small V in the middle of his comb. Ted's is more uniform, but not as large.
They are a little dirty, but I'm liking the way they are looking.
I didn't get a good pic of the black split pullet. Maybe today.

I said I love your avatar, and you have no comment on Jack?
Did not expect that one from you...
My pens are full sun... sun bleaching is awful and the lighter ones look worse than the others... plus, good lacing is wanted in blues and I usually see the best in the darker... I'd rather breed a darker blue with good lacing I can evaluate than a lighter one that I can't tell if the lacing is correct or not...
Did your Lavs turn brassy/yellowish? Especially in the saddle and hackles? Or did their feathers fret really bad?
Fretting is common in Lav, breeding black in helps correct that... brassy/yellowing is usually from sun damage... if they molt it out, then it isn't anything to worry about... did your pen have lots of shading or was it sunny?
Good point on the pen size for SC... I mentioned that to him before... all my pens are huge, coops are on the smaller side, but for multiple boys they don't seem to mind sleeping in close quarters as long as they have their space during the day...
Another thing is, do you have anything in the pens? Roost spots here and there, or open topped and bottomed boxes on their sides for hidey holes they can't get cornered in... even a section of random wood fence in the middle... breaking up line of sight will do wonders at keeping boys from pissing contests...
Looking very nice, WV!! Is that run shaded a lot?

Just a little bundle of excitement, aren't you?![]()
It was good I guess.
